Post mommy makeover scar, treatment?
Scars are inevitable with any surgical procedure, however we understand more all the time how to make the scars less obvious. Once Dr. Marion removes the surgical dressing, he encourages patients to shower and allow soapy water to run over the incision lines. The scars will usually have surgical tapes over them that are allowed to get wet in the shower. Once these are removed, a silicone scar ointment (biocorneum) is applied twice daily for the three months. We also discuss the role of scar massage and protection from UV light for the first year after surgery. Dr. Marion follows his patients closely post-operatively to ensure healing is satisfactory to his patients.
How severe is the pain after a mommy makeover?
Pain is always different for each person. Certainly abdominoplasty more than breast surgery is associated with discomfort. At the time of surgery medication is injected in the area of the nerves that signal pain. More extended relief is provided by oral pain medications prescribed before the procedure.
