Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

The term blepharoplasty, or eyelid tuck, is a procedure aimed at rejuvenation of the eyes. The procedure can be applied to both the upper and lower eyelids. With aging the eyelids develop loose or sagging skin that can be excessive enough to impair vision. Also, fatty deposits are seen as puffy eyelids or bags under the eyes. Many patients will also complain of general feeling of heaviness to the eyelids.

Other cosmetic procedures may be performed with a eyelid surgery, like brow lift, facelift, or necklift.

“For the past few years, my eyelids have been obstructing my vision. When I decided to finally do something about it, I made an appointment with Dr. Marion. Dr. Marion spent a good deal of time with me, looking at the best options for my eyes (and surrounding features), and then his staff went to work to get approval from my insurance company to cover what might be viewed as cosmetic surgery, but in this case was medically necessary.
When the time came for the surgery, I saw in Dr. Marion both his surgical skills and his artistic talents, both of which are considerable. And, again, his staff made me feel comfortable and confident as he spent a considerable amount of time drawing, snipping, tucking, and stitching around my eyes (and I was awake for the whole thing!). His follow-up has also been great, as he’s talked me through the healing process for a very delicate and sensitive part of my body (I’m not one to sit idly by day-to-day, but for the past week or so I’ve needed to do more of than I’m accustomed to.)
And I love the outcome! I can see better than I have in years, I actually feel more alert, and the cosmetic benefits are great (yes, this was medically necessary, but I love that I can see my eyes again!).
